Home  Awards  NAB NEELUM KANGA AWARD



The Neelum Kanga Award is awarded to visually impaired women
for outstanding achievement in a professional field. Established
in 1982-83 by Neelum Kanga, the award has honored 48 women
from all over India till date.

Three cash prizes of Rs. 1,000/- each and Certificates of Merit
are awarded every year to women selected by State Branches
of NAB and other Institutions.

Purpose
The focus of the award is to provide encouragement to numerous
women to take up diverse fields of work and excel in the same.
For this reason the award bears no limitation of professional
categories that can be selected. Over time, hence, it has resulted
as an incentive for women to take up professions like academics,
music, teaching blind welfare, physiotherapy, homeopathy medicine,
Public Service, Poetry writing, Physical Fitness/Banking, Computers,
Fund Raising, Reiki, Law and even sports.
