In the year 2001-2002 NAB Braille Press produced:

  • 13 Titles in 4 languages
  • 25,119 Number of Volumes
  • 20,80,920 Number of Pages

NAB M.P. Shah All India Talking Book Centre

In the year 2001-2002 NAB M.P. Shah All India Talking
Book Centre produced:

  • 194 New Titles
  • 41,215 Cassetess Despatched
  • 153 New Members were added to the Library

NAB Department of Rehabilitation

  • 89 Students were imparted Training by NAB Department
    of Rehabilitation during the year under review
  • 15 Students were trained in Physiotherapy

Education

  • Integrated Programmes were conducted for 383 Boys and 274
    Girls in 435 villages/towns, for 35 lakhs with the help of 70
    special teachers
  • Visually impaired, 395 boys and 371 girls from 9 states were given scholarships worth Rs. 3,57,500
  • 17 Jr. College students in and around Mumbai were given financial assistance worth Rs. 17,000/-
  • 269 Boys and 168 Girls from 6 States were given sponsorships of Rs. 4,37,000/-
  • 1180 Braille Kits were distributed in 7 States worth Rs. 8,85,000/-
  • Subsidised Special Aids and Equipment provided to 525 individuals, 78 institutions from 13 States
  • Spent Rs. 2,42,000/-, to conduct several courses for Man Power Development in which 176 participants from 8 States participated 
  • 6 integrated camps were organised in 5 states at the cost of Rs. 1,22,200/- in which 74 blind and 62 sighted students participated
  • Under Voluntary Braille Transcription Service 34 Braille Volumes comprising 12 Text Books and 4 Story Books were transcribed in Braille
  • 35 students of which 26 boys and 9 girls suffering from blindness plus additional disabilities were provided special services to a Home-based Programme in and around Mumbai at the cost of 4 lakh
  • Under National Project of Services of Deaf Blind Children sponsored by Sense Internation (I) 35 Deaf-blind children from 9 states were provided services
  • In the CBM Finance Training Centre for the Teachers (Primary Level) of the Visually Impaired 13 Students were imparted training
  • 17 Students were given awards for their meritorious performance in S.S.C. & H.S.C. Examination in the Mumbai Division Board

NAB Prevention of Blindness

  • 3709 School Students and 1064 adults in Eye Camps
  • Spectacles were provided to 2524 School Children and 483 in Eye Camps
  • Since inception 6 years back, we have screened 145262 and provided spectacles in 11681 and medicines/ ointments to 1002
  • 370 Schools covered and held 19 Eye Camps
  • 30 cataract operations were covered up
