Education

While
education and literacy are not the only components to initiate a
progressive society, they are truly the most essential cornerstones
of the same. As the largest NGO in the country, the National Association
for the blind with its mission to serve the blind in every possible
field, has, since its inception focused its efforts into providing
facilities that aid in making the blind self-reliant, economically
independent, and competent contributors in society.
Training for Teachers
Good learning comes from good teaching.
The National Academy For Teachers, set up in 1960, offers special
training for teachers of the blind. Currently, the academy runs
four regional centers in the country.
Man-power Development Programme
The idea of this programme is to impart itinerant teachers, regular
teachers and Headmasters, peer groups and parents with special training
and a homogenous framework for the organization's regional programmes.
Apart from orientation and refresher courses for itinerant teachers,
the department offers three main programmes aimed at fostering community
building among the blind. These are generally organised in the summer
vacation to enable the parents and the volunteers to participate
in them.
- Para professional Training Course in Mumbai for parents of blind
children and volunteers
- The Social Animators Training Course for
parents of blind children and volunteers and local social workers
to create awareness among the society.

Impaired (Primary)

by the Rehabilitation council of India and supported by the Christoffel
Blindon Mission, Germany. It offers a diploma that aims to train
