PREVENTION OF BLINDNESS

Introduction
A stitch in time saves nine. As per the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness, eye examination and provision of spectacles can eliminate upto 12 and 25% of world blindness in developing and developed countries respectively. By correcting refractive errors, one can dramatically improve quality of life and access to education for many children.

NAB, while serving the blind, has been playing an active role in detection of causes of blindess and providing effective treatment for the same. The Project for Prevention of Blindness started by NAB, back in 1998 detects and treats glaucoma, cataract and conjunctivitis, provides medicines and spectacles to the children in the slums and municipal schools.
