Recognizing the need to address the problems of the disabled
and find effective solutions for the same the government has
proposed to set up a State Resource Center for the Visually
Impaired under the National Programme for Rehabilitation
of Persons with Disability (PPRPD) Scheme. Under this
Scheme at least one Resource Center in each category of
Disability is to be set up in each State so that the individuals
with that disability can get all types of specialized services.

Purpose: The NAB resource center will focus on training
Rehabilitation Professionals for the blind at the State & District
level. Every Zilla Panchayat will be provided with pre allocated
funds that would be distributed at the District and Block levels
to deliver requisite services. In addition, a State level Executive
Council and Co-ordination Committee will also be set up to monitor
the progress.

Finally, the Committee will assist the State Govt. in policy
formulation and effective implementation of the PWD Act.
